Ken Gilbert Cup Rules

Mixed Top Club Competition

(Singles 4 woods, Pairs 4 woods 18 ends, Triples 3 woods 18 ends,Fours 2 woods 18 ends)

  1. Clubs may only enter one side.  
  2. The competition will be held on a knockout basis, dates as listed in the draw.  
  3. A Club side will consist of 11 players. The disciplines are two 4 bowl singles, one woman one man 21 shots, one mixed 4 bowl pairs 18 ends, one mixed 3 bowl triples 18 ends,) one mixed 2 bowl fours 2 men, 2 women, 18 ends. All to play on the challenger’s green, up to the Final.  
  4. The Final shall be played on a green and date fixed by the Executive Committee. All players in the final are  to have their own club stickers on their woods or stickers will be supplied.
  5. The dates for each round shall be strictly adhered to (see competitions rules). Ken Gilbert games to play on a Monday.  
  6. It is unnecessary to have the same players throughout.
  7. Before the commencement of the match, the nominated managers/captains will toss a coin to decide the  choice of the jack for the first end, make the draw for rinks for each discipline and will decide if the two singles matches will be played on the same rink, one after the other. If not, all disciplines commence at the  same time.  
  8. Each discipline will be played to a result – no drawn disciplines. The winning side will be the one winning  the most disciplines.
  9. If the game is abandoned owing to exceptional weather conditions, bad light, or any other valid reason and  the following ends have been met or better, Pairs and Fours 11 ends, Triples 10 ends the scores will be  taken from the position they reached and the singles as the score stands. If any of the matches has not  completed the minimum number of ends Pairs and Fours 11 ends, Triples 10 ends, then those matches  need to be completed to the full number of ends except for the singles where the result from the postponed  game stands. The game will resume within 5 days. resume their match with the scores standing as they  were when the game was stopped.  An end started but not completed shall be declared void. The resumed  games will be on the same green although the rink may be changed, and one substitute will be allowed as  rule 2. The position of the substitute will be as described in the current Laws of the Sport of Bowls as  adopted by Bowls England. The person who was playing in the singles will not be allowed to play in any  other discipline.  
  10. If the game is canceled for inclement weather, it must be played in the next 5 days and notified to the  competition recorder.  
  11. The result should also be telephoned to the competition recorder that evening, but not after 10pm or on the web.

The result will be determinded by over diciplines.
