County Championships - Preliminary Stage of National Championships - (2026)
1) COMPETITION ENTRIES
a) Entries and payments can be made through the County Competitions Portal. If you are unable to do this, someone else can make entries on your behalf. As a last resort entries can be made through your Club Secretary. and upon the form supplied, together with the entrance fee agreed by the executive committee. Entry forms are sent to all Club Secretaries by the end of August and must be returned to the County Treasurer, with payment, by end of November. After this date, no further entries will be accepted.
b) Those playing in the first tie of a competition shall be deemed to be the Championship entry for that competition and the rules as to substitution shall apply thereafter.
c) If the Named person for a competition can’t play in the first match and a reserve is bought in (except Singles where no reserves are allowed) and they lose, that named player can’t then play for another team in the same competition.
d) All competitors must be on the green ready to start play on the date and time arranged. Any competitor who fails to appear within 30 minutes of this time shall be disqualified.
e) Only the winner of your Club 4 Bowl Singles is allowed to enter directly with BE in their 4 Bowl Singles Championship, at their own cost.
2) NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATIONS
a) If we have 2 representatives at the National Championships, team ‘A’ will be the team in the top half of the draw and team ‘B’ will be the team in the bottom half, subject to no changes being made by BE allowing for overlapping players. The numbers of representatives will be determined by the number of entries we have made at the closing date of the competition and submitted to Bowls England.
b) Senior Fours, there will only be 1 representative at the National Championships.
3) DRESS AT THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
a) Players qualifying for the National Championships must wear the Bowls Cambridgeshire Registered Uniform.
b) The only exception to the above rule is the National Top Club (Men and Women), National Club Two Fours and National Tony Allcock Trophy where registered Club Uniforms shall be worn. If in doubt, please ask the County Secretary or Competition Secretary or any members of the Executive who will share the relevant Bowls England regulations. Or see Bowls England regulation, 50, 51, 52, 53.
4) TRAVEL MONEY
There will be no travel money paid to anyone qualifying for Leamington.
5) WEATHER RULING - Championship Competitions
In the event of no decision being reached IN ANY ROUND UP TO THE FINAL in Championship Competitions, due to the weather, then the match will be finished off on the next round date. A wet day is worked into the program before the date of the final, to allow for catch up.
