County Open Triples League Rules

(Triples 3 woods 18 ends)

  1. Triples League, teams shall consist of 4 Triples, 3 woods 18 ends. 3 points for a win, 1.5 for a tie, plus 1 point for each rink, 0.5 for a tie rink.  
  2. All games played in May, June, July commence by 18:30, August 18:15  
  3. Score cards, from both teams, to be sent to the League Administrator within 24hrs of the match, (email  forms confirming results are the preferred communication as long as they have all the players’ names and  the amount of ends played).  
  4. In the event of teams tying for any position, on points, in the league shot difference will determine the position  
  5. Where there are multiple Divisions in a league, then the teams that have finished bottom and of the  higher division will be replaced by the team that has won the lower division. This is subject to not having to balance up the divisions. If this has to happen then an extra team might have to be relegated or promoted.
  6. Any new teams will go into the lowest Division.  
  7. The league programme will be given to the Clubs at the Annual General Meeting (subject to no league amendments and rule changes) and also on the web.  
  8. Players must be registered with the league administrator at least 24 hours before playing in the leagues. No  player to register for more than one club. Clubs entering more than one team must register a list of ‘a’ team  members and ‘b’ team members. Playing unregistered players may result in the Competition Committee  deducting clubs, points and shots.  
  9. All matches shall be played on FIXED DATES as shown on the web and circulated to clubs in January.
  10. Inclement weather is the only valid reason for being unable to play matches.  Matches needing to be rearranged due to inclement weather must be rearranged and notified to the league  administrator within 5 days of the original date and played by the end of August. If a match doesn’t get played then the points will be shared. All games that get cancelled.
  11. If a match is abandoned owing to exceptional weather conditions, bad light, or any other valid reason;  should all rinks have completed 10 ends, then the aggregate score at 10 ends shall stand as the result. The  score on all rinks having played 10 or more ends (agreed by both captains) stands as a result. If less than 10 ends have been played the match shall be replayed.  
  12. The Leagues are open leagues. Clubs can play All Men, Women’s or Mixed in each rink.  
  13.  If a rink is a player short the order of play should be as follows:

a)   When the pair of players win the jack.

The lead player of the pair casts the jack and plays one bowl.        

The opposing lead plays one bowl.

The triple’s second player plays one bowl.        

The pair's lead plays their second bowl (his/her second).

The opposing lead plays their second bowls.

The triple’s second player plays their second bowl.        

The pair's lead plays their third bowl (his/her second).

The opposing lead plays their third bowls.

The triple’s second player plays their third bowl.        

The skips play their three bowls in the normal way.

b)  When the triple wins the jack

The lead player of the triple casts the jack and plays one bowl.        

The opposing lead plays one bowl.

The triple’s second player plays one bowl.        

The triple’s lead plays there second bowl (his/her second).

The opposing lead plays their second bowls.

The triple’s second player plays their second bowl.        

The triple’s lead plays there third bowl (his/her second).

The opposing lead plays their third bowls.

The triple’s second player plays their third bowl.        

The skips play their three bowls in the normal way.

  1. Players are not permitted to change places in the rink during the game.  
  2. The League winners' trophies will be presented at the County Luncheon.  
  3. Disputes not covered by these rules will be settled by the Executive/Competition Committee, whose decision will be  final.
